The successful candidate will primarily conduct all the activities required to assign new ratings for European NPL securitisation transactions as well as other relevant rating actions. The successful candidate will assist in the update and development of the relevant rating methodologies, as well as be involved in various on-going projects, including research projects and developing analytical tools. The role offers wide opportunities to develop European structured finance experience in a client facing environment.

Funciones y responsabilidades

The successful candidate will join the European NPL team, part of the European Structured Finance, and her or his responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and/or support lead analyst in the process of assignment of new ratings to European NPL transactions in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Lead and/or support lead analyst in the process of surveillance of Structured Finance transactions rated by the company.
  • Understand and utilise and help to develop the company's rating methodologies and analytical tools.
  • Analyse the asset-liability cash flow structures of NPL transactions using the company's cash flow tools and Intex.
  • Study and analyse performance trends for existing transactions: actual collections versus expected collections, source of recoveries and changes in collection strategy, monitoring performance related triggers
  • Review transaction legal documentation, memoranda, transaction summaries or presentations in conjunction with the company's methodologies.
  • Draft, review and/or finalise (in cooperation with other members of an analytical team) analytical documentation for both internal and external use, such as discussion papers, rating reports, press releases and research commentaries.
  • Support senior analysts in administrative work.
  • Review transaction amendments/restructurings.
  • Participate in on-site reviews (if permitted) or perform virtual operational reviews of originators in conjunction with operational risk analyst as well as property tours
  • Prepare rating committee or discussion memoranda for a rating action or a rating resolution.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of legal documentation supporting NPL transactions.
  • Strong quantitative skills and experience in cash flow modelling and capacity to manage large data sets.
  • Willing to work in an environment with a strong focus on teamwork and have strong work ethics.
  • Analytical and quantitatively oriented mind-set, and attention to details. 
  • 5+ years of experience in an analytic role in structured finance or related areas at an advisory company, a bank, a servicer, an investor or at a credit rating agency.
  • Understanding of and experience in the NPL sector is required.
  • The ideal candidate could come from special services, Investment Banking, Funds, or Asset Management firms.

Bachelor (or equivalent) degree in finance, financial engineering, mathematics, physics, economics or similar quantitative discipline; Masters or CFA designation (enrolment or completion) is preferred.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (VBA, Python, etc.) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, with a high attention to details and focus on quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a team as well as independently in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new analytical approaches proactively and think creatively.
Excellent written and oral English is a must.
Proficiency in other European languages such as Spanish, Italian or Greek is considered an advantage.
